Two Queensland cattle families

King River is the Kemp family and the Rich family, fifth-generation cattle farmers who joined forces to breed and finish Wagyu. Harry Kemp is a director and the third-generation manager of the family's Lotus Park feedlot. Their line: from our family to yours.

The country The countryTap
The country

North and central Queensland

The cattle are bred and grown on family stations across north, north-west and central Queensland: Lotus Park, Carmelong, Eight Mile, Strathpark, Mt Ravenswood and Marathon. Calm mustering, careful weaning and sawdust-lined trucks are part of the handling.

Grain grown on the same farm

The ration is built on corn silage, wheat, sorghum, cotton, chickpeas and mung beans grown on 2,800 hectares around the feedlot, with the grain steam-flaked on site. Crossbred Wagyu average 365 days on feed, purebred up to 450. Marbling only fills in once the animal is fully grown, which is why they feed this long.

Queensland Regional Exporter of the Year

King River won the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards Regional Exporter of the Year in 2024, and was a finalist again in 2025. Every carcass is graded independently by an AUS-MEAT grader, so the marble score on the box is theirs, not King River's. MSA licensed processing.
